I think I can. I knew I could.
I spent the evening “RAKing” with my friends! We went to the mall armed with 30 or more sticky notes with inspirational sayings on them. In a store, we would stick them on a dressing room mirror. In a bathroom, we would stick them to the back of a stall door or on a mirror over the sink. In Barnes and Noble, we stuck them inside magazines some lucky person might find. One of my friends even taped quarters to a sticky note and put it on a vending machine; the note said “Drinks on me. Start a chain reaction.” It was a great night! I felt so good about doing good things for other people! It all started with RAK (the club I talked about in my previous post) and a website called operationbeautiful.com. Go to the site, and you will know exactly what I mean! I have never been so inspired to do something so simple, yet so kind for someone I don’t even know! I will leave you to explore that special site, but first I will share some of the quotes we posted around the mall.
"You were born an original. Don’t die as a copy." -John Mason
"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." -Eleanor Roosevelt
It’s your imperfections that make you beautiful.
Scales measure weight, not worth.
Change how you see, not how you look.
Remember: You are someone’s hero—even if you don’t realize it.
You are bea-YOU-tiful and fab-YOU-lous!
As you can see, there are many things you can say to someone to brighten their day. You don’t even have to say it to their face! Leave a sticky note and start a chain reaction.
